Washington hoops to add Hall of Fame coach as assistant under Mike Hopkins, per report
Washington basketball is expected to add Hall of Famer Larry Brown to the Huskies’ 2023 coaching staff under Mike Hopkins, according to a report from Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.
Brown has been all over the place as a coach, most famously at the college level when he coached Kansas from 1983-1988, the last of which won the national title. Brown is a top 15 coach in NBA history, winning a title with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.
Most recently, Brown served under Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway. The Tigers had a solid team in 2022, but fell in the first round of the NCAAT to an FAU squad on its way to a Final Four berth.
All to say, this is an incredible hire for Hopkins and Co.

Washington is facing a lot of turnover following a 16-16 season. The Huskies retain Keion Brooks and have some solid incoming transfers, but lose the likes of Cole Bajema and Keyon Menifield, which were slated to do some damage as their careers move forward.
