Washington holds firm in latest AP Top 25 poll after 2-0 start
Washington is once again ranked No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, released Sunday.
The Huskies are 2-0 and coming off a 43-10 win over Tulsa on Saturday. Coach Kalen DeBoer’s group reached 40 points for the second consecutive game to open the year and the eighth time in 15 games since DeBoer took over.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has been phenomenal to open the 2023 season. On Saturday, Penix completed 28 of his 38 pass attempts for 409 yards and three touchdowns. Last week, in a 56-19 win over Boise State, Penix threw for 450 yards and a career-high-tying five touchdowns. It’s still early, but the two games have him on pace to make history at Washington this season.
UW is one of eight Pac-12 schools ranked in the latest AP Top 25. The Huskies are joined in the poll by No. 5 USC, No. 12 Utah, No. 13 Oregon, No. 16 Oregon State, No. 18 Colorado, No. 23 Washington State, and No. 24 UCLA.
