Washington flips top-ranked in-state recruit from Oregon in major signing day win
Washington got Oregon again.
Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach cornerback Caleb Presley is staying home, announcing on Wednesday that he has flipped his commitment from Oregon and given his verbal pledge to the Washington Huskies. Presley had been in the Ducks’ class since July when he chose Oregon over a group of finalists that also included Washington, UCLA, Michigan State, Alabama, and Texas A&M
Despite the pledge to UW’s rival, coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff stayed in the picture in the hopes they could win when it mattered most.

Presley went on an official visit to Oregon on Dec. 9, a trip that helped give him clarity in his recruitment.
“I felt like I knew Washington was the place for me when I flew back home from my official visit from Oregon over the Husky Stadium and just imagined myself playing in that environment,” Presley told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman. “The coaches played a huge role. I felt like they never gave up on me and they showed up to my games this year to see me ball out against the competition. I felt like they were relentless with recruiting me and needed me to stay home.”
Staying close to home was a factor for Presley, he told Huffman.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Presley rates as a 4-star prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247 Composite. He’s the 19th-ranked corner in the country and the top prospect from the state of Washington. Overall, he’s the 166th-ranked recruit in the class.
Presley plans to play in the 2023 All-American Bowl in San Antonio in January and then enroll early at UW to participate in spring ball. UW announced his signing Wednesday as well.
