Washington’s pass-rushing duo of Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui want to be the most feared edge rushers in college football.

To that end, they have unfinished business in Seattle. The duo announced Sunday on social media they will be coming back for the 2023 season, giving UW coach Kalen DeBoer and the Husky defense a huge win.

The Huskies are losing one piece of their three-headed edge rusher rotation from 2022 in Jeremiah Martin, who has exhausted his eligibility. But getting both Trice and Tupuola-Fetui back gives co-defensive coordinators William Inge and Chuck Morrell a pair of stars to build around in the front seven.

Trice and Tupuola-Fetui combined for 60 tackles this season to go with 16.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble. Trice tied Martin for the team lead in TFLs with 11. He also recorded the third-most quarterback pressures of any Pac-12 defender, according to Pro Football Focus.

The 6-foot-4 Trice will be entering his fifth season with the Huskies. Tupuola-Fetui, also 6-foot-4, will be returning for his sixth season with UW.

UW also recently added a promising edge rusher from the transfer portal, former Sioux Falls standout Zach Durfee.

The Huskies ranked third in the Pac-12 this season with 35 sacks in 12 games. Their ability to get after the quarterback was a real strength, and with Trice and ZTF running it back in 2023, that should once again be true.
