Washington defeated Utah 4-1 on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Women’s College World Series.

Utah took an early lead in the 2nd inning of this game, but Washington quickly responded in the bottom half of the frame. The Huskies scored 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 4th and 1 in the 6th en route to their convincing victory.

Rylee Holtorf had a big day at the plate. She went 3-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI. Here’s video of Holtforf’s blast:

This game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was pushed to Friday afternoon due to inclement weather in Oklahoma City.

The win means the Huskies will now have the rest of the day off to prepare for a meeting with Florida State on Saturday in the next round. Utah, on the other hand, will face Oklahoma State in an elimination game later this evening.

First pitch of Washington’s second-round matchup with Florida State is set for 4 p.m. PT on Saturday.
