It’s a new era at Washington.

Kalen DeBoer announced his presence with authority on Saturday at Autzen Stadium with a 37-34 upset of the sixth-ranked Ducks. Washington handed Oregon its first loss since Week 1 and its first home loss since 2018. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 408 yards, bouncing back from a potentially disastrous fourth-quarter interception to lead game-tying and then game-winning drives in the final four minutes.

UW effectively ended Oregon’s College Football Playoff hopes. The Huskies also moved to 8-2 on the year and picked up their first win in Eugene since 2016.

Washington halted a 13-game losing streak against ranked Oregon teams and beat a top-10 Oregon squad for the first time ever. It was a magical night for the program and a defining moment for DeBoer — who now has three wins over ranked opponents in his first year at the helm.
