Lance Leipold has seemingly decided to remain at Kansas.

On Sunday afternoon, FootballScoop reported that Leipold had emerged as the top target for Washington to be its next head coach. Minutes after that report was shared, Leipold sent a message on social media indicating he has no plans to leave Lawrence for the Huskies’ head coaching job.

Leipold had been linked to Washington since Kalen DeBoer departed for Alabama. However, it seems the Huskies will now have to focus their search elsewhere as they look for a new head coach to help the program transition to the Big Ten in 2024.

Arizona’s Jedd Fisch and Kansas State’s Chris Klieman are two other head coaches who have been linked to Washington’s vacancy throughout this process.

Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb announced on Saturday night that he will not be the next head coach for the Huskies. Grubb is now expected to follow DeBoer to Alabama to be the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator in 2024.
