Kalen DeBoer will reportedly take a trio of Washington assistants with him to Tuscaloosa. The coach is taking Ryan Grubb (OC), JaMarcus Shephard (WR), and Jerret McElwain (director of scouting) with him to the Crimson Tide, according to ESPN’s Chris Low.

DeBoer is also expected to retain Alabama defensive line coach Freddie Roach and running backs coach Robert Gillespie.

DeBoer will have his hands full at Alabama. The coach takes over for the legendary Nick Saban who retired after 17 seasons and 6 national championships. The Huskies will now need to find a new head coach, offensive coordinator, wide receivers coach, and a director of scouting, at the very least.

The Huskies will be looking for a coach who can keep the team relevant as they move to the Big Ten in 2024. DeBoer went 25-3 over 2 seasons in Seattle and is fresh off a National Championship Game appearance with the Huskies.

The team hopes to settle on a new coach soon as National Signing Day is less than a month away.
