Kalen DeBoer believes there is a good chance both tailback Dillon Johnson and edge rusher Zion Tupuola-Fetui will be able to play next week against Michigan State.

Neither suited up for Saturday’s 43-10 win over Tulsa. The Seattle Times’ Mike Vorel noted in the pregame that ZTF was running and high-fiving teammates in the pregame, and he did not have a visible cast or injury.

“I feel pretty good about both Zion and Dillon being back next week,” DeBoer said in the postgame. “Just working through some things. We want them at full strength.”

Johnson had seven carries for 12 yards and a short touchdown in the opener last week. DeBoer, however, said he’s still not at full strength.

“Dillon’s still climbing trying to come back. Didn’t feel like he was where he’d hoped last week. We know what he’s capable of and he’s not there yet. And Zion we expect to be back.”

UW also saw safety Asa Turner go down in the first half. DeBoer said they aren’t sure yet of the status, but it’s a hand injury. They’ll know more on Monday.

The eighth-ranked Huskies (2-0) head to East Lansing next Saturday, Sept. 16.
