Kalen DeBoer is one of 12 finalists for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award.

The award is voted on by the FWAA. Washington’s second-year head coach is joined by Arizona’s Jedd Fisch, Northwestern’s David Braun, Liberty’s Jamey Chadwell, Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz, SMU’s Rhett Lashlee, Miami (OH) coach Chuck Martin, Florida State’s Mike Norvell, UNLV’s Barry Odom, Alabama’s Nick Saban, Texas’ Steve Sarkisian, and Troy’s Jon Sumrall.

The winner of the 2023 award will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The official presentation is set to take place at a reception prior to the CFP National Championship on Jan. 6, in Houston.

DeBoer is looking to become Washington’s second Eddie Robinson Award winner, joining Don James in 1991. The award was first presented in 1957.

After an 11-2 debut season under DeBoer in 2022, Washington set a program record for wins in a single year this fall.

The Huskies picked up their 13th victory in 13 games last Friday when they defeated Oregon 34-31 in the Pac-12 Championship Game. That win marked a third straight over the Ducks under DeBoer — the first time since 1989-93 that Washington more three straight in the series.

It also sent UW to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2016. The Huskies will face No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.

Washington has won 20 straight games dating back to last season and holds the nation’s longest active winning streak. It is two games shy of matching a program record set from 1990-92. That previous winning streak featured a national championship

Two more wins for this Washington team would mean the Huskies have captured another national title.
