Gordon is not the first freshman to be suspended this offseason. Running back Tybo Rogers was also indefinitely suspended earlier in camp. Rogers’ suspension was due to a violation of team rules.
DeBoer, asked if either were in serious trouble, said the issues were “serious enough” to warrant suspensions and that he didn’t feel the two freshmen were being accountable.
“One of the best ways to learn is to take football away, right?” he said.
Gordon was expected to provide depth at the safety position behind Asa Turner and Dom Hampton on the Huskies’ depth chart. It is unknown when or if Gordon will get the chance to play for the Huskies in 2023.
The young defensive back was a 3-star prospect out of Seguin High School in Arlington, Texas. Gordon originally committed to Washington back in June of 2022.
