Joel Klatt expects Washington to continue rolling in the Apple Cup this weekend.

The fourth-ranked Huskies are set to square off with Washington State for the 115th time in the annual Apple Cup this weekend. Klatt said on The Joel Klatt Show the 16.5 points UW is favored by still isn’t enough.

“Washington State isn’t nearly as good as Washington,” Klatt said.

Washington is currently 11-0 so far this season and has won 18 straight games.

“They continue to churn out these victories, even if they’re by slim margins,” Klatt said. “They’ve won seven-straight games by fewer than 10 points.”

Klatt noted the quarterback battle in this year’s Apple Cup will be a good one, with Heisman trophy candidate Michael Penix Jr. pitted against Cameron Ward. Penix has 3,695 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, while Ward has 3,415 passing yards, 22 TDs, and five INTs.

“These guys are going to put up a lot (on Saturday),” Klatt said, noting both QBs are top five in the nation in passing.

Washington leads the all-time series against Washington State with a 74-33-6 record. The Huskies have won eight of their last nine meetings versus the Cougars, including a 51-33 win in Pullman last year.

“I think Washington is on a roll,” Klatt said. “They’re not gonna get beat in this game, even if they’re looking ahead to the Pac-12 championship game.”

Kickoff between the Huskies and Cougars is slated for 1 p.m. PT on FOX.
