Joel Klatt isn’t buying Florida State as one of the top 4 teams in the country. Nevertheless, that’s where the Seminoles were ranked in Tuesday’s latest College Football Playoff rankings while Washington found itself on the outside looking in.

Coming off a Week 10 win over USC that saw the Huskies drop 52 points, Klatt believes Washington looks a bit better than FSU:

“Isn’t Washington’s resume probably a little bit better than Florida State’s? I would say it probably is. They’ve both struggled at times, and they’ve both struggled against teams that they shouldn’t,” said Klatt. “I mean face it, FSU should have played a lot better against Pitt. I get it, Coleman wasn’t playing, Wilson wasn’t playing… but the way that Washington went out there and played last weekend in what was an unbelievable game against USC, I thought there might be some movement there.”

Klatt went so far as to label the Seminoles the weakest of the remaining undefeated teams. Washington’s resume also looks better in his eyes with the earlier win over Oregon included.

“If you’re asking me, I think Florida State is probably right now the weakest of the undefeateds,” Klatt claimed. “Now, some people don’t believe that. That’s fine, this committee clearly doesn’t believe that. I think Washington is — at least with the Oregon win — better from a resume standpoint.”

At the end of the day, Klatt knows his thoughts do not matter, and he understands the Seminoles have the “cleanest path” to get into the CFP. As for Washington, the Huskies still have games against ranked opponents in Utah and Oregon State to go with the season finale against Washington State and a potential Pac-12 title game.

“What I think about Florida State doesn’t matter. In fact, I think Florida State has the cleanest path and the most sure seat at the spot in the table of the Playoff,” Klatt predicted.
