Greg McElroy says Boise State can make things 'uncomfortable' for Washington
Greg McElroy stopped short of putting Washington on upset alert in Week 1, but he identified Boise State as a potential problem for the Huskies.
McElroy discussed a number of potential upset opportunities on the most recent episode of Always College Football. He explained why Washington-Boise State has his attention for a potential upset this weekend.
“I think Washington is much better than Boise State. But Boise State finished the season in a flurry last year, especially the regular season, and they’ve been giant-killers in the past,” McElroy said. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see them hang in there for an extended period of time and maybe make that game a little uncomfortable for a team that has tons of preseason expectations.”
Washington is a big favorite this weekend over the Broncos, who are coming off of a 10-4 season under Andy Avalos.
Washington enters the 2023 season with College Football Playoff aspirations. The Huskies return quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and several other key players from a 2022 team that went 11-2.
The Huskies and Broncos have met 5 times previously. Washington is 3-2 all-time in this series, including a victory in 2019.
Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT on Saturday.
