“Duck Nation, I would like to start off by saying thank you to the University of Oregon and all the amazing people that I have built relationships with over the past 2 years. I want to give a special thanks for Cheif and the athletic trainers for supporting me and always giving me a smile when I’m around. I would like to also give a thanks to the tutors and the staff members at the Jaqua for the help that they given me during my time here. Thank you to Coach Love and the rest of the strength coaches for developing me into the athlete that I am today. I appreciate Coach Lanning as well as all the coaches at Oregon and will cherish all the moments we had. Most importantly I want to thank Coach Meat for unconditionally supporting me and developing me in all areas of my life. With that being said, I am entering my name into the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”

As a recruit, Barkins was a 3-star prospect with scholarship offers from 17 schools, including Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Cal, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington State.
