The Huskies are once again on the road this week, hoping to bounce back from their first loss of the season.

No. 21 Washington was beaten soundly for most of three quarters by UCLA a week ago. Over the game’s final 21 minutes, though, UW outscored the Bruins 22-7. They fought to give themselves a chance at the end, and that display in the fourth provided for some optimism coming out of the game. UW spent the week talking about handling adversity, and it feels it showed it can respond when faced with it.

How much will a 1-4 Arizona State team provide on Saturday in Tempe? The Huskies are a double-digit favorite in the matchup, but Bill Connelly’s SP+ model sees a much closer game unfolding.

Connelly’s SP+ is calling for a 31-24 Washington win.

The Sun Devils pushed USC for a bit last Saturday. Interim coach Shaun Aguano has certainly changed the feel around the program since taking over for Herm Edwards after a 30-21 loss to Eastern Michigan in Week 3

“With Arizona State, there seems to be a lot of positive vibes still within the team,” said UW coach Kalen DeBoer this week. “They’re playing hard.

“They’re playing hard and they’re pushing teams like this last week to the fourth quarter. They’ve got good players. We’ve got to make sure we’re on our best and our ‘A’ game, and there’s no reason we shouldn’t be based on taking a loss this past weekend.”

Kickoff between the Huskies (4-1, 1-1 Pac-12) and Sun Devils (1-4, 0-2 Pac-12) is set for 1 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.
