ESPN writers Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach are in agreement: Washington is the favorite out of the Pac-12 right now to make the College Football Playoff.

The two get together each week to give their bowl projections for all 43 postseason games, and they both have Washington facing Michigan on Jan. 1 in the CFP semifinal at the Rose Bowl game. Bonagura has Washington winning that game and advancing to the CFP National Championship to face Georgia on Jan. 8.

Schlabach wrote that a UW-UM matchup in the Rose Bowl would be his favorite matchup on the board:

A Michigan-Washington matchup in the Rose Bowl would be a fitting end for the final season of the Pac-12 as we know it. Huskies quarterback Michael Penix leads the FBS with 399.8 yards per game. He is second with 16 passing touchdowns. The Wolverines are one of only two teams in the FBS that allowed just one touchdown pass in its first five games. The teams played in consecutive Rose Bowls at the end of the 1991 and 1992 seasons.

The two writers stand in opposition to the outlet’s Football Power Index, which believes Oregon is the best team on the West Coast and gives the Ducks the fourth-best odds of making it to the CFP.

Oregon has a 39.7% chance as of publication. Washington is at 21.1%.

That will get settled on the field, though. Both programs are resting up this weekend on byes before facing off against one another in Seattle on Oct. 14. That game could serve as the first of a two-parter, with a chance the two teams meet again in Las Vegas for the Pac-12 title.

Elsewhere, Bonagura believes Oregon will face Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. He has USC facing Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Schlabach has Oregon playing in the Fiesta Bowl, and USC facing Kansas State in the Alamo Bowl.
