Edefuan Ulofoshio says he slept inside Washington’s football facilities for three straight days this week in the lead up to the Pac-12 Championship Game. He knew how important the game was. And there was extra fuel on the fire.

The Ducks were a 10-point favorite. That was in spite of Washington winning the first game.

“A huge disrespect, for sure,” Ulofoshio said Friday night after the Huskies beat the Ducks 34-31 to claim the conference title.

Washington surged out to an early 20-3 lead on Oregon. The Huskies were the aggressors. All night, they controlled the line of scrimmage. Even after Oregon punched back with a 21-0 run to take a brief lead, Washington never flinched.

The Huskies had second-half touchdown drives that covered 75 yards in 10 plays and 82 yards in 12 plays. The latter drive took more than six minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter and served as the dagger.

Dillon Johnson called the betting line for the game “insane” and “outrageous.” He said the Huskies took it personal throughout the week of prep.

When it came down to it, the Huskies were better.

And that now makes three in a row over their most hated rival. It’s the first time Washington has won at least three consecutive games in the series since winning five in a row from 1989-93.

“On their turf, on our turf, on a neutral turf, they will never live this down,” Ulofoshio said.

The sixth-year linebacker had six tackles in the game. Only Alphonzo Tuputala had more on the UW defense. UW’s captain was key. And this was absolutely a complete performance.

Early in the year, Washington’s defense was knocked for being carried by the offense. The Huskies held Oregon to just 124 rushing yards. A third of that came on one Bo Nix scramble. Bucky Irving was limited to 20 yards on nine carries.

With the performance, UW is likely headed to the College Football Playoff. It’ll be the program’s second trip to the CFP and the Pac-12’s first since 2016 — when UW made its first trip. A national title is within reach.

“I slept at the stadium for like three straight days because I was trying to get ready for this game. I knew how big it was. The moment was huge,” Ulofoshio said. “I just knew that we beat them twice, but this would be a lot sweeter if we get this one, I’m not gonna lie.

“You can’t say anything. That’s three in a row. And that’s when it all matters, too. They beat us and they didn’t go to the Playoff. You can’t say that Washington isn’t back. You’ve got to put respect on our name.”
