Cole Bajema has received a one-game suspension from the Pac-12. As a result, Bajema will miss the Huskies’ Saturday evening game at USC.

Per a press release from the Pac-12, the conference cited an incident from Thursday’s game against UCLA. The release claims Bajema made “significant contact” to “the groin area” of a Bruin player during action late in the first half.

That type of contact if not accidental is supposed to be assessed as a Flagrant 2 foul.

“The Conference is responsible for emphasizing and enforcing standards of conduct and sportsmanship to protect student-athlete health and safety, as well as the equity and integrity of competition,” said Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff via release. “It is our duty to ensure competition does not cross beyond the line of aggressive play to excessive behavior.”

Bajema has appeared in all 24 games (23 starts) for Huskies and is second on the team while averaging 9.9 points per game. He’s the teams leading 3-point threat and is shooting 38% from deep while also averaging 4.5 rebounds per game.

Washington is coming off back-to-back losses and is 1-3 in the past 4 games. We’ll see if the Huskies can rebound on the road without Bajema in the lineup.
