Celebrity guest picker revealed for College GameDay at Washington
The celebrity guest picker for ESPN’s College GameDay’s upcoming trip to Seattle was announced on Thursday, with Joel McHale making his second appearance as a guest picker at his alma mater.
McHale, after originally being recruited to join the school’s rowing program, walked on as a tight end at Washington but never saw the field. Still, he was a member of the 1993 Rose Bowl team and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history in ’95.
He also appeared as the guest picker for College GameDay in 2016 when the Huskies hosted USC.
McHale is most known for his role as “Jeff Winger” in NBC’s comedy series Community from 2009-2015, and he has also served as the host of The Soup and a myriad of other TV series. He also made appearances in Ted and Spider-Man 2 and most recently hosted the E! reality competition series House of Villains.
College GameDay will be live (6-9 a.m. PT on ESPN, ESPNU) from Red Square on Washington’s campus, the site of a pivotal top-10 clash between Oregon and Washington this weekend that is sure to be full of plenty of bad blood.
The battle of unbeaten Pac-12 rivals begins at 12:30 p.m. PT on ABC.
