Utah stays hot on the trail, earns commitment from 3-star California linebacker
The Utes have their third verbal pledge in the last week.
Owen Chambliss, a 3-star linebacker from Corona (Calif.) Centennial, announced his commitment to Utah on Monday. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound ‘backer chose the defending Pac-12 champs over interest from Boise State, Arizona, and Boston College, among others. He took an official visit to Salt Lake City at the beginning of June and visited Boise a week later, but Utah proved to be the move.

Chambliss rates as a 3-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the 72nd-ranked recruit from the state of California as well as the 70th linebacker. Overall, he’s the 864th-ranked prospect in his class.
Versatility is a big part of his game. He played corner as a freshman and then moved back to safety as a sophomore. Last fall, he played primarily as a linebacker for Centennial.
His verbal gives Utah its fifth known commitment for the 2023 class. You can view his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
