Utah recruiting hitting unprecedented levels as Pac-12 champs continue to elevate program
Utah is enjoying the kind of success on the recruiting trail it hasn’t seen at any other point during Kyle Whittingham’s tenure.
The Utes are in line to sign a top-20 class. They could climb into the top 15 depending on how the Early Signing Period goes. Since Utah beat USC to win a second consecutive Pac-12 championship, four different blue-chip recruits have announced their commitment to Whittingham and Co.
“Nothing helps recruiting more than success,” Whittingham told reporters earlier this week.
I asked Kyle Whittingham about how recruiting has been going lately and he gave a big eyebrow raise and said: “really good, really good.”
“We’re closing in on a top 20 class, which we’ve never done. … Nothing helps recruiting more than success.”

With a week to go until the Early Signing Period (opening Dec. 21), Utah has 20 known commits in the 2023 class. That crop is headlined by Provo tackle and top-150 prospect Spencer Fano. The Utes also have a commitment from 4-star tackle Caleb Lomu, 4-star edge and former Stanford commit Hunter Clegg, and 4-star defensive back CJ Blocker. The Utes are also bringing in another prolific running back in 4-star Dijon Stanley.
The Utes have had seven consecutive classes that ranked in the 30s nationally. In the 247Sports era, Utah has yet to post a top-25 class.
Winning can do some wonderful things.
