Utah has its second commitment in as many days from one of its weekend visitors.

CJ Blocker, a 3-star corner from New Caney (Texas), announced on social media Tuesday he’ll begin his career with the Utes. He was just in Salt Lake City for an official visit, and chose the Utes over interest from Boston College, Kansas State, Nebraska, Purdue, and Washington State, among others.

Blocker brings a great deal of athleticism to the corner spot for Utah. A 6-foot, 165-pound defensive back, he also runs track for his high school. As a junior this past spring, he recorded 100-meter times of 10.78, 10.99, and 11.05. He also ran a 22.62 200m and put up an 18-11 long jump. According to UteZone’s Steve Bartle, Blocker ran a 10.47 100m during a recent state title meet.

He doesn’t have a star rating yet in the industry-generated 247 Composite (that should change soon), but the in-house evaluators for 247Sports have him pegged as a 3-star and the 61st-ranked corner in the 2023 class. He was credited with 25 tackles, five pass breakups, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery last fall.

Blocker’s pledge gives Utah its seventh known commit for the 2023 cycle. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
