Utah basketball landed a commitment from Class of 2024 4-star power forward Jaxon Johnson Thursday afternoon.

Johnson, who hails from Sandy, Utah (just south of Salt Lake City), stands at 6-9 and is a standout for Alta HS. He chose his hometown Utes over BYU, USC and Stanford.

He’s not an elite athlete by any means, but Johnson is a good shooter with above average offensive potential.

Johnson is rated differently but each recruiting service, but according to 247Sports he’s rated as the No. 112 overall prospect as well as the No. 26 power forward and No. 3 player out of the state of Utah.

He’s the Utes’ 2nd commitment of the 2024 cycle, joining Utah Prep shooting guard and 3-star prospect David Katoa. The Utes have the No. 46 rated class in the 2024 cycle.
