Utah earns a re-commitment from 4-star cornerback CJ Blocker
Utah won out. Again.
New Caney (Texas) cornerback CJ Blocker announced on social media Tuesday he has re-committed to the Utes. He was part of the 2023 class from late June through November before leaving the class to explore his options. He took a visit to Alabama just days after decommitting, leaving with an offer from the Tide.
Over the last few weeks, he has picked up offers from Deion Sanders at Colorado and from Brent Venables at Oklahoma. He took an official visit to Kentucky over the weekend.
But Utah remained the top choice.

Blocker brings a great deal of athleticism to the corner spot for Utah. A 6-foot, 165-pound defensive back, he also runs track for his high school. As a junior this past spring, he recorded 100-meter times of 10.78, 10.99, and 11.05. He also ran a 22.62 200m and put up an 18-11 long jump. He has a personal best 100m time of 10.62.
He has also climbed a bit in the 2023 player rankings thanks to a strong senior season on the gridiron. Blocker jumped nearly 100 spots in 247Sports’ Top 247 ranking update on Tuesday, checking in as the 176th overall prospect in the class. In the industry-generated 247 Composite, he’s a 4-star and the 32nd-ranked corner.
Blocker is the second blue-chip corner prospect to commit to Utah in as many days, joining Lehi (Utah) Skyridge corner Smith Snowden. He’s also the fourth blue-chipper to commit since the Utes beat USC to win the Pac-12 title.
The class has 20 known commitments with Blocker’s verbal. It’s a group that ranks 21st nationally. You can view Blocker’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
