Utah defender announces he will redshirt, transfer
The Utah Utes boast one of the best defenses in the nation so far. The unit is allowing just 282.6 yards per game, which has led the Utes to a 4-1 record.
However, the team will be losing a depth piece from the impressive unit.
Defensive back Jadon Pearson took to social media to announce his intention to transfer.

Pearson has decided to redshirt this season to preserve a year of eligibility. Pearson will have 2 years of eligibility remaining once he finds a new team. The defensive back mentioned that he is “open to playing OLB or safety.”
Players are allowed to play in 4 games and still redshirt, so Pearson announced his intentions before playing in any more games for the Utes.
Pearson’s 2023 season will end with him having played in 3 games, mostly on special teams. The graduate transfer collected 4 tackles for the Utes this season, 2 against Weber State and 2 against Baylor.
The 2 leading tacklers for the Utes are safeties- Sione Vaki and Cole Bishop. The Utes are on a bye week in Week 6 before welcoming the Cal Golden Bears in Week 7.
