After 2 seasons on the Utah football team, CB Elisha Lloyd is stepping away from the game and will head elsewhere to pursue a different athletic career.

Lloyd took to Twitter Sunday to announce that he is retiring from football and entering the transfer portal seeking track and field opportunities. He posted an image of a note, saying the following:

“First off I want to thank The University of Utah and all of the coaching staff here, I have truly learned a lot and grown as a young man by being around such great people. I want to thank EVERYONE that has truly supported me and worked with me for the 10 years I have committed to the game of football, I would not have made it this far without my people in my corner… I want to acknowledge GOD and everything he has done behind the scenes to help me get this far in life and accomplish things that nobody in my family has ever done..with that being said after taking my time with constant prayer and evaluating my life and what I want to do… I have decided to RETIRE from football and put my career to an end.. This is something that has been on my heart for a while and I feel like this is the right decision FOR ME.. However I will be entering the transfer portal and making the transition and pursuing TRACK AND FIELD and have already began training. My recruitment is now open for those looking for a hard working and committed 100m, 200m, 4x100m sprinter. For those who really rock with me thank you! This is the beginning of a new era for me! Love all!”

A Mission Hills product from San Marcos, California, Lloyd did not record any game action in 2 seasons with the Utes. He was a 3-star recruit.

The Utes held their 2023 spring game this weekend.
