Utah announces game against Florida sets new Rice-Eccles attendance record
Utah is taking on Florida on Thursday at Rice-Eccles Stadium, the season opener for both teams.
The nearly 25-year-old stadium saw its attendance record fall on Oct. 15, 2022, as 53,609 fans were in attendance to watch Utah beat USC 43-42.
That record didn’t last long: it was broken on Thursday, in fact, as announced attendance for the game was 53,644.
Utah has carved out a place for itself as one of the better programs in the Pac-12, winning back-to-back conference crowns. That said, it’s not yet had a College Football Playoff appearance.
Meanwhile, Utes football should continue to be a hot ticket over the coming years. In 2024, Utah will become a member of the Big 12 along with fellow Pac-12 schools Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado.
As for Thursday, the crowd gathered at Rice-Eccles Stadium has been treated to a strong performance by the Utes even without Cam Rising behind center. They led the Gators 17-3 at the halftime break.
We have set an all-time attendance record at Rice-Eccles Stadium of 53,644!!
