Utah football recently announced that Ja’Quinden Jackson is the recipient of the 22 Forever Memorial Scholarship for 2023. Jackson also won the award in 2022.

The scholarship is annually awarded to the player who best exemplifies the spirit of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. Jordan and Lowe are former Utes who tragically passed away within one year of each other.

Jackson knew Jordan since the pair were in eighth grade together back in Texas. Jackson then bonded with Lowe after transferring to Utah in 2021.

“When you feel like everything is wasted and you don’t know what to do, you just think about those two dudes and how they would continue to move forward and dig deeper,” Jackson said. “To just be 22-percent better.”

Jackson saw time at running back, quarterback, and on special teams in 2022. Jackson took 78 carries for 531 yards and nine touchdowns. The versatile Jackson figures to play a big role again for the Utes in 2023.

Utah will kick off the 2023 season on Aug. 31 against Florida.
