Nate Johnson apologizes to Utah fans for offensive showing vs. UCLA
Nate Johnson took to social media after a 14-7 Utah win to apologize to the fanbase for the offensive performance on Saturday.
With Cameron Rising still unavailable for the Utes, Johnson drew his second career start. For most of the afternoon, Utah asked him to do very little beyond handing the football off or running it himself. Johnson threw just one pass over the last 20 minutes of the game, and the Utes scored just seven points as an offense.
Johnson promised the Utah offense “will be better next week” and said “things will get cleaned up.”
I apologize for the way the game was played out credit to our defense for an amazing performance we will be better next week our offense is still awesome just things will get cleaned up see you guys next Friday 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Utah is 4-0 on the season but it has been outgained in half its games.
The Utes have really missed Rising’s presence in the pass game. Bryson Barnes started the year, but Utah went to Johnson late in the win over Baylor and Barnes hasn’t played since.
Johnson finished Saturday’s game against the Bruins 9-for-17 passing for 117 yards and a score. But it wasn’t just the pass game that struggled. Nothing Utah tried on the ground worked either.
Credit UCLA’s defense for the part it played. The Bruins entered the game fourth nationally in defensive efficiency.
But you have to appreciate Johnson’s commitment.
“I need to clean up some things on offense,” he said after the game. “I trust in our offense. I feel like we’re just fine. We’re running the ball well, throwing the ball well. Just certain drives we have to clean up on and really just need to worry about Oregon State next week. Got to go 1-0.”
