Karene Reid picks off UCLA on first play from scrimmage, returns for touchdown
Karene Reid, are you joking?
On the first play from scrimmage, Utah picked off freshman UCLA quarterback Dante Moore. Reid watched Moore’s eyes the entire way and jumped a slant pass before returning it 21 yards for a touchdown.

Moore threw a 67-yard touchdown pass on UCLA’s first offensive play a week ago against NC Central. It was the start of a 35-point first quarter for the Bruins.
There would be no such warm welcome to Rice-Eccles Stadium in Saturday’s Pac-12 opener.
Utah has an unreal streak of seasons with pick-sixes. Last week’s 23-yard interception return from Lander Barton extended the program’s streak to 20 consecutive seasons with a pick-six. Reid wasted no time making it back-to-back weeks with a defensive score.
It’s just the second interception of the season for Moore, the former 5-star freshman who has been remarkable for the Bruins early. He entered Saturday’s game ranked 10th nationally in Total QBR.
Utah needed a hot start against the Bruins on Saturday without its own star quarterback. Nate Johnson drew the start at quarterback as Cameron Rising once again remains out. He has yet to make his season debut for the Utes after offseason ACL surgery.
The 11th-ranked Utes (3-0) and 22nd-ranked Bruins (3-0) are battling on FOX.
