Back in April, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Devin Lloyd in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The former Utah standout has wasted absolutely no time establishing himself as a force of good in the community. According to Jaguars team reporter Ashlyn Sullivan, no other rookie has done more community work so far than Lloyd, who is spending the week hosting his first football camp at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville.

“I’m on this earth to make a difference,” Lloyd told Sullivan.

Lloyd also took part in the Jaguars’ Special Olympics Football Fantasy Camp at TIAA Bank Field last month. The club welcomed athletes to the team, giving them the opportunity to sign one-day contracts to be a Jaguar for the day, receive custom jerseys, and run through football drills on the main field with Lloyd and several other Jaguars.

An All-American during his time in Salt Lake City, few left the program as beloved as Lloyd. In five seasons with the Utes, he appeared in every game possible after a redshirt season in 2017. He could have left Utah to enter the NFL Draft following the 2020 season, but stressed to his team that he was determined to come back and lead Utah to a Pac-12 championship. Lloyd was a consummate captain.

“The impact that Devin has left on this program as a player, a teammate, a leader, and a person can’t be overstated,” coach Kyle Whittingham said of Lloyd prior to the draft. “A true Utah Man from the moment he stepped on campus, Devin has made the University of Utah football family very proud. His future is bright and we can’t wait to watch his professional career unfold.”

Lloyd and the Jags open preseason play against the Las Vegas Raiders in the Hall of Fame game on Aug. 8. The regular-season opens against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. PT.
