ESPN’s FPI has released predictions for the Week 1 slate of college football action, including Utah’s rematch against Florida to start Week 1.

The game provides a tough opening matchup for both teams. The teams also faced off against each other to open the 2022 season. Florida came out on top in that matchup, 29- 26. The Utes will be looking for payback on their home turf this time.

Heading into the game, the FPI has the Utes as heavy home favorites over the Gators. The system is giving the Utes a 73.3% chance to win the rematch and start the season off 1-0. It’s interesting that the system so heavily favors Utah considering the injury uncertainty surrounding star QB Cam Rising.

However, home-field advantage proved to be a key factor in the 2022 game and may prove even more so this time. The Utes play at Rice Eccles Stadium, which sits at 4,637 feet above sea level. The Gators, meanwhile, are used to playing just about 100 feet above sea level. This is a massive difference that could prove to be disadvantageous for the Gators.

The Utes and Gators will kick off on Thursday at 8 pm eastern.
