College GameDay will broadcast live from Salt Lake City on Saturday. The traveling pregame show for ESPN is in town to highlight the matchup of the week in the Pac-12 — a top-15 game between Utah and Oregon.

Two years ago, these two teams met twice. Utah won both, with the second netting the program its first Pac-12 championship. Last season, Oregon took the grudge match in Eugene. Now, both teams are 6-1 on the year, 3-1 in Pac-12 play, and in the hunt for a berth in the Pac-12 title game. The stakes are massive, as they’ve been each year lately when Utah and Oregon get together.

The Week 9 visit will mark the fifth time GameDay will be live from Salt Lake City, and it’ll be the first time for the show since 2016.

Utah is 2-2 in its previous four games as a host.

Overall, the Utes have appeared on the show seven previous times. The last two appearances came during their Rose Bowl games to cap the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

  • Rose Bowl game vs. Penn State on Jan. 2, 2023 — Utah lost 35-21
  • Rose Bowl game vs. Ohio State on Jan. 1, 2022 — Utah lost 48-45
  • vs. Washington on Oct. 29, 2016 — Utah lost 31-24
  • vs. Cal on Oct. 10, 2015 — Utah won 30-24
  • vs. TCU on Nov. 6, 2010 — Utah lost 47-7
  • at TCU on Nov. 14, 2009 — Utah lost 55-28
  • vs. BYU on Nov. 20, 2004 — Utah won 52-21

Both Rose Bowl losses featured injuries to quarterback Cameron Rising and late-game entrances from Bryson Barnes.

Rising is out for the year, and Barnes has taken hold of the quarterback spot for the Utes over the last two weeks. In a Week 8 win over USC, Barnes threw for 225 yards, ran for another 57, and supplied four total touchdowns. He also had a 26-yard run with less than 20 seconds on the clock that set up Utah’s game-winning field goal.

Utah will need the same kind of play from him on Saturday against the Ducks.

Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT on FOX.
