CFP Management Committee appoints new member to Selection Committee following departure of Jen Cohen
With Jen Cohen stepping down from her role on the College Football Playoff selection committee due to her new role as athletic director at USC, a replacement has been identified.
The CFP Management Committee has named Mark Harlan, the athletic director at Utah, to the position vacated by Cohen, it announced on Monday.
“We are pleased to have Mark join the committee. His vast knowledge and experience as a college administrator has him well prepared for this new role,” CFP executive director Bill Hancock said in a statement. “While we are sorry Jennifer has had to step down from the committee, we certainly understand the exciting and challenging responsibilities she has with her new position at USC.”
Harlan has been the AD at Utah since 2018. Prior to that, he held that same position at USF. He joined USF from UCLA, where he was senior associate athletics director for external relations.
“I’m honored to serve in this important role, and I’d like to thank the CFP management committee for this opportunity.” Harlan said. “I recognize the importance of this committee for college football and for our industry, and I’m eager to join the current committee members in this commitment for the 2023 season.”
