Utah moved up one spot in the new AP Top 25, released on Sunday.

The Utes (5-2, 3-1 Pac-12) were off this past weekend, but a loss ahead of them opened the door for a slight bump in the latest media poll. Syracuse (previously No. 14) took a 21-10 lead into the fourth quarter on the road against Clemson but couldn’t close the deal and fell 27-21.

Utah is one of four Pac-12 teams in the top 15 of the poll, joined by No. 8 Oregon, No. 10 USC, and No. 12 UCLA. The top six in the poll — Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan, Clemson, and Alabama (in order) — remained unchanged from the previous week.

One voter had Utah as high as No. 8 in the poll, with four others placing Utah at No. 10. Last week, only one voter had Utah in the top 10.

The Utes are riding some momentum right now as they come out of their bye week. A 43-42 win over then-No. 7 USC at home on Oct. 15 gave Utah a much-needed tie-breaker in the race to the Pac-12 title game.

UCLA’s loss to Oregon on Saturday leaves just one remaining unbeaten team in league play — the Ducks. Utah will visit Oregon on Nov. 19, the same day UCLA hosts USC. Utah is still in a position to control its destiny.

But it’ll need to take care of business this week against Washington State. The Utes travel to Pullman for a Thursday night game against the Cougars, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. PT on FS1.
