Andy Ludwig, Utah OC, reportedly makes decision on Notre Dame job
Andy Ludwig will reportedly remain at Utah. The Utes offensive coordinator interviewed with Notre Dame regarding the program’s OC vacancy but has decided to stay at Utah, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Ludwig has been with Utah since 2019. The Utes have averaged 6.3 yards per play or better in 3 of the last 4 seasons with Ludwig. The 58-year-old, originally from Ogden, Utah, is in his third stint with the program. He previously coached for Utah as a graduate assistant in 1992 and as offensive coordinator from 2005-to-2008.
Ludwig’s name has been a popular one for the Notre Dame offensive coordinator since Tommy Rees left for the same position at Alabama. He was in South Bend over the weekend and spotted attending a hockey game with head coach Marcus Freeman. Ludwig’s reported buyout of over $2 million appears to have been a snag in the Irish getting him on Freeman’s staff.
Buyout was around $2 million (more with the tax paid). Utah wasn’t going to budge. Ludwig is extremely valuable for Utes. https://t.co/6MOWUHGxjR

Andy Ludwig will remain at Utah, sources confirm. @PeteThamel first.
$2.8 million buyout was considered a potential deterrent from the jump. That proved the case.
More coming.
