Alex Smith says Cam Rising's knee injury was 'way worse than we thought'
Utah has been one of the most surprising teams in the country, and is coming off a thrilling 34-32 victory against USC last weekend in Los Angeles.
The Utes have been able to overcome the injury to Cam Rising, who suffered a serious knee injury last season in the Rose Bowl.
There was hope that he would be ready to go at the beginning of the season, but he has yet to play in a game this season. Former Utah quarterback Alex Smith, who said he’s close to Rising, talked on the Pat McAfee show about how serious Rising’s injury was.
“Cam and I know each other well, he is a great kid,” Smith said. “As we learned, his knee injury was way worse than we thought. That was a much bigger surgery that he went through. I know we were hopeful that he would come back this year, but his health is most important. I hope he gets healthy and gets back to the player he was.”
