Another week, another Pac-12 honor for Tuli Tuipulotu. He’s collecting them like candy at this point.

The Pac-12 announced on Monday the junior defensive lineman for USC has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in USC’s 55-17 victory over Colorado. It’s the second time he’s earned the Player of the Week honor this season, and his fifth weekly award in total. Tuipulotu has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week three times.

In the win over the Buffs, Tuipulotu was once again a force. He recorded 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup.

The Hawthorne native is up to 11.5 sacks on the season, the most by a Trojan defender in a single season since Kenechi Udeze set the program record with 16.5 sacks in the 2003 season. With two regular-season games remaining, a bowl game on the way, and a possible berth in the Pac-12 title game — which USC can secure this week with a win over UCLA — Tuipulotu could conceivably make a run at the program record.

On the season, Tuipulotu has 32 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles.

He leads all FBS defenders in sacks this year and ranks third in TFLs. No Pac-12 player has been better at getting to the quarterback or stopping plays in the backfield.
