USC to the CFP, Williams to NYC: Social media reacts to USC's win over Notre Dame
Caleb Williams totaled 267 yards of offense and four touchdowns. Austin Jones ran for a career-best 154 yards on the ground. Calen Bullock got his fifth interception of the season and Ralen Goforth recovered a fumble created by Eric Gentry. The stars came out to play for No. 6 USC Saturday night against No. 15 Notre Dame at the L.A. Coliseum.
With a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game already secured, the Trojans handled business against the Fighting Irish for a 38-27 win to cap Lincoln Riley’s first regular season at 11-1. The win gave the Trojans their first over a ranked Notre Dame team since 2009 and, in the eyes of many, moved USC one step closer to the College Football Playoff.
After the win, social media was abuzz with talk of the CFP and the Heisman Trophy.
Williams seemingly locked up the award with his performance as he set a new USC record for touchdowns in a single season. With Ohio State, LSU, and Clemson all losing, USC also seems to be in excellent shape to make the CFP if it can win in Vegas next Friday.
Here’s the reaction from social media:

#USC won FOUR games in 2021.
A year later is it one win away from the College Football Playoff, led by the projected 2022 Heisman winner.
Crazy.

USC just blowing thru any realistic expectations this season. Shouldn’t be this good, this quickly.

About as good as I’ve seen USC play since the Pete days. Swagger. Speed. Power and playmakers.

It is official, ladies & gentlemen. This kid @CALEBcsw of @uscfb has just secured the Heisman Trophy. It’s not even anything to talk about after what I’ve seen everyone else do today. It’s Williams of @uscfb y’all. Period!

11-1.
4-0 vs. the rivals.
No Loss November.
Heisman favorite.USC really is back.
(And it’s somehow only Year 1 of the Lincoln Riley Era. They’re way ahead of schedule.)

I don’t know if USC wins the Pac 12 but this team is legit. You don’t go 11-1 and be lucky. Their offense with Caleb is difficult to stop and their def is much better than people think. Time to start considering them a real contender.

Georgia

USCThere’s your college football playoff, folks. Simply amazing that Lincoln is going to make it only 10 months after getting the job.

USC took a big swing to go get a coach many thought they couldn't get…That coach took a big swing at the XFR portal and changed an entire program in ONE off-season!

College Football Playoff is Set.
Georgia, Michigan, TCU.Fourth Spot Belongs to USC if they win out. Ohio State should get in if USC doesn’t win out, but the Committee loves Alabama. Ohio State losing by 22 today hurt them because Bama’s 2 losses were by a combined 4 points.
