USC linebacker Tackett Curtis has decided to enter the transfer portal, according to a report.

The Orange Country Register’s Luca Evans was first to share that news on Monday evening. Evans said Curtis has not officially entered the portal, but has filed the necessary paperwork to do so.

Curtis’ departure is a tremendous loss for the Trojans. Curtis had a strong freshman season at USC, totaling 40 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. He was primed to be a significant part of USC’s defense going forward.

Instead, he will enter the transfer portal and leave the Trojans searching for a new inside linebacker in 2024.

Curtis was a big recruiting win for the Trojans coming out of high school. He was a 4-star prospect and the No. 108 overall player in the country for his class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Curtis is originally from Many, Louisiana. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next program.
