USC is ranked No. 5 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, released Sunday.

The Trojans were idle in Week 3, but it still might come as a surprise to see they didn’t move at all. Texas struggled early against Wyoming and the Alabama team it beat in Week 2 looked even worse. Florida State survived an upset scare from Boston College. Those two teams swapped spots at Nos. 3 and 4, but remained ahead of the Trojans.

In Week 4, USC returns to the field against Arizona State (1-2). The Sun Devils are coming off an embarrassing home loss to Fresno State — a 29-0 defeat that saw ASU cycle through three quarterbacks, turn the football over eight times, and see its already perilous injury situation move to disastrous. The Sun Devils could very likely be forced to start fourth-string quarterback Jacob Conover against USC, with each of the top three options battling injuries.

Kickoff in that game is set for 6:30 p.m. PT in Tempe.

USC is once again one of eight Pac-12 teams in the ranking this week. The Trojans are joined by No. 8 Washington, No. 10 Oregon, No. 11 Utah, No. 14 Oregon State, No. 19 Colorado, No. 21 Washington State, and No. 22 UCLA.
