The Trojans open the 2022 season on Saturday against Rice.

The first home game for coach Lincoln Riley and a bevy of offseason transfers, it represents the beginning of a new era for the men of Troy. USC has huge expectations just a year removed from a 4-8 campaign. Anticipation has been building all week, and on Friday night, USC dropped the first gameday trailer of the year to get fans even more excited.

Anything less than a resounding victory on Saturday will come as a surprise. USC enters its opener against Rice as a near-33-point favorite. After the offseason USC had, it should have no problem putting points on the board.

USC brought quarterback Caleb Williams, wideout Jordan Addison, running back Travis Dye, and linebacker Shane Lee to Los Angeles, all from the transfer portal, to headline a 2022 signing class that was one of the best in college football. The rapid talent influx has the Trojans ranked 14th nationally in the preseason AP poll.

They also currently have the fifth-best odds to win the 2022 College Football Playoff national championship.

Kickoff against Rice is set for 3 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.
