USC redshirt freshman running back Brandon Campbell has entered the transfer portal. Shortly after news broke of the decision, Campbell took to Twitter to confirm he does intend to leave the Trojans.

Campbell was a three-star signee in the 2021 class. He enrolled last spring, but only got in on three games as a true freshman. The 5-foot-11, 210 pound back from Texas totaled 12 carries for 53 yards.

He was rated as the 343th overall prospect in the Class of 2021, as well as the 15th-best running back, per the 247Sports Composite.

His departure will leave the Trojans with only three scholarship backs available when they open spring ball later this month: Travis Dye, Austin Jones, and Darwin Barlow. Barlow is the only back on the roster that played for USC last season. He ran for 289 yards and two scores in nine appearances.

Campbell will have four years of eligibility remaining to use at his next home.
