Lincoln Riley is reportedly going to need to crack open the notebook and look at other options for a running back coach.

Tashard Choice, who reportedly accepted a job on Riley’s USC staff earlier this month, is expected to be the new running backs coach at Texas, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Choice, a former Dallas Cowboy as a player, was recently at Georgia Tech for three seasons. He was an ace recruiter for the Yellow Jackets and the team’s running backs coach.

There’s plenty of irony here. Steve Sarkisian, the Texas coach poaching Riley’s assistant, was, of course, one time the USC head coach. He and Riley also had a massively entertaining battle at the Cotton Bowl in this past season’s OU-Texas game, a matchup that went to the Sooners after a blown 28-7 Longhorn lead.
