USC added a major offensive weapon to its 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday morning.

The Trojans picked up a commitment from 4-star tight end Walter Matthews. A Georgia native, Matthews holds offers from numerous SEC programs including Florida, Auburn, LSU and South Carolina, amongst others.

Here’s his announcement:

Matthews is an elite prospect in the class of 2024. He’s the No. 116 overall player and the No. 8 tight end in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the 18 player from the state of Georgia.

He attends Hiram High School in Hiram, Georgia. Matthews is listed at 6-foot-7, 245 pounds. He took an official visit to USC earlier this month.

Matthews is now USC’s second highest-ranked offensive recruit in the class of 2024. Only 4-star receiver Xavier Jordan ranks higher.

The Trojans are now up to 10 commits in this cycle. The group sits at No. 16 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
