Malachi Nelson and Makai Lemon are going to put up massive numbers this season.

The dynamic duo at the heart of the Los Alamitos offense — soon to be pieces of Lincoln Riley’s offense at USC — were unstoppable Friday night in helping the team to a 47-14 win over Servite. According to The O.C. Register’s Steve Fryer, Nelson threw for 306 yards and four scores. Lemon was on the receiving end of 229 yards and two touchdowns — on just five receptions.

The duo hooked up for big plays all night, including this 76-yarder to open the scoring:

The 6-foot Lemon rates as a 4-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite. Currently, he’s ranked as the 45th-best prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 2 athlete.

Nelson, a 5-star, ranks as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the 247 Composite. Arch Manning is the only player ranked higher than Nelson. Originally an Oklahoma commit, Nelson re-opened his recruitment when Lincoln Riley left town and eventually joined the Trojans class to stay with the head coach.

No doubt Riley is looking forward to seeing that Nelson-Lemon connection in the cardinal and gold.
