USC landed a commitment from 2024 Clearwater (Fla.) High defensive back Jarvis Boatwright Jr. on Sunday.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound safety prospect picked the Trojans over South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida State, among others. Boatwright was on an official visit to campus over the weekend and clearly liked what he saw. He has visits scheduled to see the Gamecocks and Volunteers in the coming weeks, as well as a reported visit to Florida State, but he told USCFootball.com’s Gerard Martinez he plans to cancel those visits and lock in on recruiting for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans.

Boatwright is a 4-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He ranks as the No. 426 recruit in the class and the No. 39 safety in the class. Some believed he’d end up at Florida. Instead, he’s swapping one coast for the other and will begin his career in Alex Grinch’s defense.

He joins a class that’s slowly picking up steam. The Trojans added two verbal pledges over the weekend to bring the total to five known commitments. More are expected to be on the way.
