USC officially announced North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz as the Trojans’ next linebackers coach on Sunday.

Entz has been at North Dakota State since 2014, beginning with the Bison as the defensive coordinator. Entz was promoted to head coach in 2019. While at North Dakota State, Entz has won 2 FCS titles and 2 Missouri Valley Football Championships. Entz’s record with the Bison as head coach was 60-10.

Lincoln Riley said USC is excited to bring a “championship-winning head coach” to its defensive staff.

“Having a championship-caliber staff is instrumental to the success of our team,” Riley said in a statement. “By welcoming Matt Entz, a championship-winning head coach and outstanding defensive mind, we are bolstering our defensive staff. He is going to be an excellent addition to the USC football program.”

The Bison have historically been a dominant program at the FCS Level. They’ve produced NFL talent such as Carson Wentz, Trey Lance and Christian Watson in recent seasons.

USC hired D’Anton Lynn away from UCLA earlier this offseason to serve as defensive coordinator moving forward.

USC will face Louisville in the Holiday Bowl to close out the 2023 season.
