The USC 2024 recruiting class is starting to take shape as the calendar flips to July. Lincoln Riley’s program ended June with one more piece added to the group, bringing the class up to 16 players as things currently stand.

The recruit added Friday is Braylon Conley, a highly-recruited cornerback out of Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas. Conley is rated as a 3-star CB per the 247 Sports Composite and committed to USC over offers from Michigan, Georgia, Arkansas and Oregon State among others.

Nationally, USC’s 2024 recruiting class is up to No. 7 per the 247 Sports Team Composite. That ranking is right in line with Lincoln Riley’s first class for the Trojans, a 2023 group that finished No. 8 in the country.

With a change in conferences lined up for USC, it is a good time to take a glance at where USC’s class ranks within the Big Ten.  While the Trojans are in the top 10 nationally, the group currently ranks 4th in the Big Ten for the cycle behind Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.

The Buckeyes are currently the only Big Ten team with a 5-star commitment, and Ohio State holds pledges from a trio of 5-star prospects. Michigan — the second-highest group in the Big Ten — leads the conference with 16 players rated at 4-stars.

USC’s total group might rank 4th in the conference, but the average rating of the commitments is much better. The average score of the Trojan commitments is 92.21, a rating that trails only Ohio State’s average of 93.35 within the Big Ten.

Key commitments for USC

At this point, USC currently has 4 players committed that are ranked as top 100 players for the cycle. That group is headlined by a pair of 4-star WRs in Xavier Jordan and Ryan Pellum.

The Trojans have also done a great job with in-state recruiting. USC currently holds commitments from 6 of the top 30 players out of California and 4 of the top 10 in-state players for the class of 2024.

We’ll see how USC can round out that group with plenty of time remaining.
